There’s been a lot of rhetoric going around about how the Apple iPad is going to all but eliminate Amazon’s Kindle. Nothing could be further from the truth. The following letter from KD, a member of the KindleKorner group on Yahoo sums it up very well…
Publishers should fear Amazon. Anyone with a computer can publish a Kindle ebook in a matter of minutes online at the Amazon web site. If a writer wants to get more money for their ebooks, even if they have used a traditional publisher in the past, they can skip right over their publisher and have the same benefit as if they had used a traditional publisher regarding a digital copy of their book–so why let the traditional publisher take a cut? This is what the traditional publishers are terrified of, and why they are demanding Amazon charge $15 and up for their ebooks–they know the market won’t support a $15 digital book price. Amazon is right to stick by their guns, because the lower the price of the ebook, the more they are likely to sell, it is just common sense.
KD
Stick to your guns Amazon…you’re doing the right thing for the readers and your customers.

If you’re still using IE6, please read Ed’s article and then upgrade your browser. I would strongly suggest IE8.

The U.S. Senate is acting like a bunch of teenagers at the senior prom. I guess I just don’t get it….every member who voted for this outrageous spending bill should be absolutely ashamed. It is a disgrace and something that my children and my grandchildren will pay for the rest of their lives. Even the Federal Workers get a 2% pay raise, but yet the retired military members and those receiving social security don’t get a cent.
