Ruby on Rails vulnerability affects Twitter; IE8 immune

Yet another reason to be using IE8….

…praises Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 Web browser which was immune to the vulnerability he discovered thanks to its built-in cross-site scripting filter. He strongly endorses the concept and says that other browser vendors should adopt it.

IE8: Ad blocking with the InPrivate Filter

Here is a link to an article regarding the use of IE8 InPrivate Filtering. The article also contains a link to a file that can be imported into the filter with instructions on how to do this. Normally, the default setting for InPrivate Filtering is off meaning that each time you start IE8, you have to turn the filter on. To work around this, the article contains instructions in the comments section about making a small change in the registry file so that the filter is on each time you start IE8. I have been using it for several months without any issues.

Internet Explorer 8 Offers Better Protection against Socially Engineered Malware Threats

Some interesting facts from NSS Labs about malware threats and IE8. If I wasn’t already using it as my default browser, this would be more than enough to make me switch. Beats Firefox and Chrome hands down. If you’re still using IE6, you really need to consider moving up to IE8.

What is Happening to Windows 7?

Sounds to me like Mr. Dvorack and Mr. Mossberg are right on top of things as usual……NOT! It’s pretty obvious that Dvorack really doesn’t have a clue about what Windows 7 is and what it’s bringing to the table. I firmly believe that he makes this stuff up…what a shame! As for Mossberg’s revelation….sounds like he may have lost his internet connection for the past several months….maybe he’s really upset that there is no upgrade path from Windows ME….LOL!

Microsoft’s Zune continues to struggle

I’d really like to see the Zune Marketing team respond to this. Paul is absolutely correct….there is no marketing of the devices or service. As evidence, walk in any electronics store and ask to see the Zune devices and accessories! They look at you like you’re a crazy person. Some don’t even know what you’re talking about. C’mon Zune Marketing folks…let’s get it together.
